Role Overview:

This Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting and analysis for the Westeck group of companies including balance sheet accounts, income statements and full cycle accounting within the Westeck organization. The Senior Accountant must have experience preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, preparing and presenting financial analytics, measuring KPIs, communicating financial results to management and non-financial team members and working with external auditors. This job is 100% worked in-office in Chilliwack, BC.

Job Duties

• Ensuring compliance with the Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), you will prepare, analyze, and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and account reconciliations.
• You will oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• You will maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with internal controls.
• You will coordinate the year-end preparation of financial statements and working papers for external accountants.
• You will identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance internal controls, and optimize efficiency.
• You will prepare and/or review federal, provincial and US sales tax returns.
• You will correspond with operational personnel to resolve issues as necessary.
• Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability analysis and cost analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• University degree in Business/Accounting. CPA designation preferred, but not required.

• 3+ years of experience in a full-cycle accounting role; manufacturing experience considered an asset.

• Experience with a timely and accurate delivery of financial statements monthly, preparing account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• You are ready to roll up your sleeves and prepare account reconciliations, prepare variance analysis, or any other accounting duties as required.

• Proficient at problem solving and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work evenings or weekends as required by meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office including Excel and Word.

• Familiarity with Sage accounting software is considered an asset

Starting Salary Range:

$80,000-$ 90,000 per year
