The Senior Manager, Tax plays a crucial role in providing expert tax advisory and compliance services to our clients while leading and mentoring a team of tax professionals. Specific Responsibilities:
Client Service:
- Provide expert tax advice and strategic planning to a portfolio of clients, addressing their specific tax needs and helping them achieve their financial goals
- Interact directly with clients, handling questions, planning, and consulting
- Research and prepare tax-planning strategies, leading the preparation of complex tax returns
- Collaborate on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate understanding between the client and the service team, managing risks for both
- Build relationships across business lines to ensure excellent client service through an integrated approach
Tax Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation and review of complex tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations
- Review research findings and ensure conclusions align with firm policies and professional standards
- Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of tax-related work products and services
- Stay current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends. Conduct research to analyze and interpret complex tax issues, providing innovative solutions to clients and training for team members
- Ensure the firm and its clients comply with all relevant tax regulations and reporting requirements
Firm/Brand Development:
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, exceptional client service, and a deep understanding of their needs
- Identify opportunities to expand services to existing clients and participate in business development efforts to attract new clients
- Drive growth and profitability in your industry/specialty area by generating new revenue from existing clients, cross-selling, and attracting new clients for the tax practice
- Lead and cultivate business relationships in complex engagements, focusing on high-value quality tax advice and expanding services to clients
Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, providing guidance on technical matters, fostering professional growth, and ensuring quality control in tax services
- Manage multiple client engagements concurrently, meeting deadlines and ensuring efficient resource allocation
Requirements for Success:
- CPA designation in good standing
- Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax program
- 7+ years of post In-Depth tax advisory experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP/GAAS, ASPE, and expert knowledge of Canadian Taxation
- Knowledge of CaseWare, CaseView
- In-depth knowledge of tax preparation and research software
- Superior relationship and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with senior client representatives
- Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong client relations
- Strong project management skills
