The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Finance department within the Metals division for a Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis located in either Fort Saskatchewan or Calgary. The purpose of this position is to deliver forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning information to key stakeholders. This involves coordinating with Controllers and site management through a unified strategic planning process.

In this role, you will be accountable for:
- Developing and implementing a continuous improvement business plan in collaboration with the team. This includes creating forward-looking analyses, models, and systems to help management make timely decisions on improvement and growth initiatives
- Directing and monitoring the development of monthly short-term rolling forecasts, quarterly forecasts, and the annual budget and long-range strategic plan(s) for the division, to be shared with both Sherritt and Cuban shareholders, as applicable.
- Providing tools, standards, procedures and analysis to enable the business to set appropriate financial targets and support decision making aligned with strategic objectives.
- Maintaining effective shareholder relations.
- Participating in or leading meetings with Fort Site Directors and other Joint Venture Management focusing on providing advice and analysis of Division and/or JV financial plans in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Providing business and financial support to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, Director, Financial Modeling, CFO Metals, GMs, Directors, Managers, and other members of the Division's management team. This may include, but is not limited to, analysis of project economics or evaluation of investment opportunities, potentially through the development and/or detail review of financial models.
- Leading a team comprised of one Senior Financial Analysists and one Coordinator.
- University degree in Business or a related field
- CPA designation is required
- Experience in a public company; 2+ years of proven financial leadership
- Understanding of current accounting best practices and standards
- Corporate and Board level exposure
- Experience in leading, overseeing, upgrading accounting systems considered an asset
- Financial modeling accreditations is considered an asset
- Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and tools that create efficiency and accelerate change
- Project and change management skills are considered an asset
- Strong communication, writing and presentation skills
- Financial modeling skills
