The Role:

Automation Controls Engineering Specialist will provide Controls related engineering support for 2 West Side Atlantic Plants. The job function is to provide Automation Controls Technical Expertise for our Mississauga Plant and Hannon Plant (Ancaster). This is a full-time day position with the possibility of emergency support for our 24/5 operations. Work between 2 Plants (Ancaster and Mississauga). Base Office or Offices in both plants TBD.

Main Job Function

• Act as subject expert in diagnostics for complex issues that cannot be solved by our internal Electricians.
• Technical Support when machine is down is top priority (24/5)
• Provide cross training to electricians when time permits and or during debugging complex problems. Ongoing Job Functions (80% of the time)
• Back-ups of; PLC, HMIs and Drives.
• Obtain missing files for assets from OEMs (Programs, Schematics, Parts Lists, Manuals,,, in electronic format) - Maintaining Engineering Software (over 50 software packages) on Controls Engineering Laptops.
• Ensure Engineering Controls Laptops can connect to numerous devices (Drives, PLCs, HMIs) mainly Allen Bradely and Siemens
• Training of Electricians when and if time permits.

Education Required

• Technologist, Engineer, or Electrician with 7 years OEM experience Experience Required
• Technologist or Engineer must have minimum of 5 years OEM experience preferably commissioning complex systems with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs
• Electrician with a minimum of 7 years OEM experience preferably commissioning complex systems with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs Candidates with OEM experience (Controls Programming and or Commissioning) is preferred.

• Ideal candidate has experience commissioning complex systems with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs
