What will you do as an Engineering Technologist?The Engineering Technologist position is responsible for supporting new product introduction, production troubleshooting, sustaining engineering and continuous improvement activities within the Engineering Group. The Engineering Group's mandates are: to bridge the gap between R&D and manufacturing; to ensure all LMI components and products are high yield and low cost. The Engineering Technologist will take on and initiate tasks to support these two mandates.
- Assemble, commission, validate and maintain manufacturing equipment.
- Assist engineers to resolve manufacturing technical issues. Conduct experiments and drive root cause analysis and corrective action. Acts as the liaison between Manufacturing and R&D to escalate issues as required.
- Conduct CAD machine parts drawing updates using Solidworks.
- Create and update BoM and work instructions.
- Create and process Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Order.
- Handle component obsolescence and manage logistic impact.
- Works with NPI project teams to transition new products from R&D to Manufacturing. Participate in prototype build. Coordinate activities with our internal customers (R&D, QA, Mfg) to ensure expectations are aligned and outputs are satisfactory.
- Provide training to manufacturing staff
- Adheres to LMI Employee Policy Manual and ensures its adherence by all group members.
- Technologist Diploma, Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent.
- 2 years hands on working experience in electronics, mechanical or optics field, with mechanical and electronics assembly experience.
- Proficiency with CAD software.
- Must be a “driver” – able to search and track down information as required to support development activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent with Excel, Word, project management software tools, PLM software.
- Solid interpersonal skills are required to function appropriately in a team environment.
- Understanding of LEAN principles.
BC/CALIFORNIA ROLES ONLY | Salary Range: $45,600 - $57,000 - $64,980
