Maintenance Worker
Full time, unionized, $40K, benefits & pension, Contract position for 10 months

Maintenance Workers are a key part of our success. MWs are responsible for ensuring that the physical conditions of our properties are maintained to Ecuhome standards and in accordance with all municipal and provincial housing & building regulations.
Responsibilities
Property Maintenance
Responsible for maintaining the quality of Ecuhome's housing including:
Carrying out all required maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned including, performing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, janitorial and mechanical repairs
Clean-up and preparation of rooms to Ecuhome standards prior to tenant occupancy
Keeping up-to-date with all safety, fire and building code requirements and all other relevant legislative requirements
Completing monthly fire inspections
Regularly observing condition of houses/buildings and reporting any issues of concern to the Maintenance Coordinator
Participating as part of the maintenance team in identifying preventative and on-going maintenance needs
Ensuring that established standards and guidelines are properly adhered to, such as fire and building codes, health & safety protocols, etc.
Preventative Maintenance
Responsible for preventative maintenance activities including:
Working with tenants and Housing Support Workers to ensure Ecuhome houses and the surrounding properties are maintained in a manner that promotes the quality of life for tenants
Making regular inspections of grounds, buildings, plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances and major equipment
Emergency Maintenance
Responsible for carrying the after hours emergency pager as scheduled; completing On Call rotation 7x per year
Assessing emergency situations, responding to calls as necessary and recommending action to be taken to the Maintenance Coordinator
Maintaining knowledge of the location of power, water and gas turnoffs and fire extinguishers in all Ecuhome properties
Health and Safety
Comply with in Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ecuhomes Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
Report any incidents or accidents immediately to Maintenance Coordinator and/or Director of Property Services, and complete the appropriate documentation
Report any potential hazards to management and our Joint Health & Safety Committee that may cause injury or harm to an employee, tenant or visitor
Other
Maintaining courteous and professional relationships with tenants, outside contractors, neighbours and other community members
Providing notice to tenants in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act for entering units
Completing all assigned work orders as required; completing daily reports and work plans
Qualifications
High school graduate
One to two years of experience in the maintenance of multi-unit residential settings
One to two years of experience in routine maintenance and semi-skilled repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance
Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills including verbal and written English communication skills
Working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and codes governing housing/building safety
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must have a reliable vehicle (travel allowance provided)
Ability to positively interact with a tenant population where mental health and addictions challenges are present
This position is in the bargaining unit (unionized)
Job Type: Full Time Contract - 10 months
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Salary: $40,086.57
Location: Scattered properties in the old City of Toronto
