About Us

Ruth and Naomis Mission has been in Chilliwack for over 20 years. From handing out sandwiches to the homeless in downtown Chilliwack, we have grown to encompass three locations in Chilliwack and from 4 employees to almost 100! We are operating 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

In our Community of Chilliwack, we serve 300 meals each day; we place 120 people into permanent housing every year; we support 35 residential recovery beds for men and women just to name a few of our services. As our Mission Statement says, We are here to transform the lives of the poor, the homeless and the addicted by bringing hope and healing through the love of God.Ruth and Naomis Mission is a faith-based mission and as such faith is the foundation upon which we operate.

As the needs of the community continue to grow, Ruth and Naomis Mission needs more caring and passionate people to join us in the following position:

Tenant Engagement Worker Interchange Supportive Housing (Casual)

The Tenant Engagement Worker is an integral part of our Interchange team, responsible for completing assigned work and daily routine, including administrative responsibilities and ensuring that the extra tasks are completed as required. The Tenant Engagement Worker interact with the tenants and develop rapport and support them in their day to day activities as necessary.

The Interchange employees run the reception area and work to ensure the residents are safe and clean and that they live in a hope-filled environment where they develop personal life skills. Interchange is a high-barrier living arrangement designed to support residents who are self-sufficient and not in active addiction.

As part of Ruth and Naomis Mission, Interchange is a Christian-based environment.

Core Duties Include:

Creating a friendly, positive, hope-filled, faith-based environment within the workplace.

Applying all RAN and Interchange policies, procedures, and rules while treating residents/other workers with dignity and respect.

Monitoring residents capacity to comply with established Interchange guidelines to maintain a safe environment.

Completing TEW administration work and physical work as required.

Observing and assessing agitation and stress levels of clients and proactively defusing potentially aggressive situations through non-violent means. Conveying information accordingly and appropriately to other staff.

Engaging Clients by building positive relationships through listening and responding.

Providing First Aid on a first responder basis and completing paperwork as required

Ensuring the flow of critical information by completing required paperwork/reports at the end of each shift

Doing regular patrols of the site internally/externally and communicating infractions appropriately.

Education / Training / Experience:

Grade 12 or equivalent required

A post-secondary certificate in Human or Community Services ideally (or in the process)

2 years of previous work experience in a similar work environment

First Aid Level 1 - required

WHIMIS & Naloxone Certification - required

CPR training is an asset

Class 5 Drivers License is an asset

Experience working in a stressful, emotionally challenging environment with an awareness of security protocols is preferred.

Clean criminal check (completed at hire date)

This is a Casual position that nights and weekends are required.
