About the Opportunity
Under the supervision of the VP, Strategic Leadership Development , the Director, Leadership Engagement will be a core member of the LEAD team. In this role, you will be responsible for strategically identifying and creating a pipeline, engagement and tracking process for leadership and volunteer roles including committee and governance opportunities; cataloguing current engagement and leadership volunteer opportunities within UJA aligned with LEADs objectives; working to identify and evaluate new engagement opportunities; engaging with, evaluating and recruiting leadership candidates and managing the strategic implementation of LEAD initiatives related to pipeline and opportunity cultivation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assessment of Current Programs:
- Evaluate and catalogue existing leadership and volunteer opportunities within UJA including committee placements, roles and future opportunities.
- Develop and Build Pipeline Tracking Process:
- Build a pipeline development tool and process to identify and track the talent pipeline for leadership opportunities working in conjunction with donor managers
- Collaborate with donor managers and senior leaders and make recommendations related to the identification of leadership talent for role placement using developed metrics and criteria.
- Engage with donor managers, senior leaders and donors to identify leadership potential and recruit potential leaders.
- Develop and Build Engagement Experiences:
- Strategically evaluate and develop new engagement experiences defining the scope of the role, onboarding processes and metrics for tracking and evaluation.
- Manage and evaluate the volunteer engagement experience over time and steward the relationship to foster placement success
- Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the visibility and impact of the LEAD initiative to drive pipeline and opportunity development
- CRM Utilization & Strategic Use of Data to Support Recruitment and Opportunity Placement
- Utilize Salesforce to track, assess, and manage candidate data, ensuring a streamlined recruitment process.
- Create a Framework to identify opportunities and mechanisms for improved data tracking, candidate identification and pipeline management.
- Develop strategies and processes to analyze data and work with the data analytics team (related to volunteer and leadership engagement) and present findings to stakeholders, making strategic data-driven recommendations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with the VP, Strategic Leadership Development and other organizational leaders to identify engagement opportunities and develop strategies to implement opportunities
- Cross functionally engage with varied teams across Integrated Development, Community Capacity Building and Israel and Overseas to create a cohesive approach to the identification of leadership opportunities and volunteer leadership development.
- Develop plan for opportunity promotion with Donor Managers
- Training and Development:
- Work strategically with the Director, Leadership Engagement in the design and delivery of training programs aimed at enhancing the skills of identified leadership candidates or internal partners to support pipeline development and lead cultivation
- Function Administration:
- Lead operations for various initiatives and follow up as needed with internal and external stakeholders to drive initiatives forward

- Recruitment Skills: Ability to engage in a full-cycle recruitment cycle including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, evaluating qualifications, and making placement recommendations

- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for presenting ideas clearly and effectively.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams and build strong relationships across departments.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated aptitude for identifying challenges and implementing creative solutions.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with CRM tools and other relevant software; ability to adapt to new technologies.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in or related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years relevant work experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues [and stakeholders, donor managers, donors, lay leadership, community, etc.]
- Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
- A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skill and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
- Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results
- An ability to think strategically and critically
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
- Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Familiarity with non-profits, the Toronto Jewish community and/or experience in Jewish Communal Service considered an asset
