Summary:
We are looking for a full-time temporary for Mat leave coverage Human Resources Generalist to work 35 hours per week Vancouver. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources (HR) Generalist supports the HR department in a variety of functions including, recruitment and selection, onboarding, and orientation, managing employee files and databases, labour relations, and employee engagement.
Job Responsibilities:
- First point of contact for all relevant HR inquiries
- Create and post job descriptions and job postings, with assistance from HR Leadership.
- Schedule and oversee onboarding activities for new staff
- Monitor the centralized HR email inbox and answer general employee questions
- Monitor and track employee probation periods; send out probation surveys to managers and new employees
- Administers benefits portfolio including registrations and terminations
- Accurately create and maintain employee files (Bamboo HR, electronic files, paper files)
- Draft employment letters and change of status letters (e.g. offer letter, LOA, offboarding)
- Assist in ensuring policies and procedures follow Employment, Labour, and Collective Agreement standards.
- Provide day to day support for the Human Resources department, including liaising with the Union (address lists and seniority reports)
- Screens applicants, completing phone screens, assisting with interviews, and conducting reference checks when requested
- Liaise with other departments and / or functions (payroll, pension, benefits, IT, finance, etc.)
- Support change management and assist supervisors in performance management procedures
- Schedule meetings, interviews, and on-boarding schedules for new exempt staff.
- Coordinate criminal record check process for current and new staff
- Other related duties.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or certificate in Human Resources (CPHR designation will be a strong asset)
- 4-6 years of experience in the area of Human Resources
- Experience working within a unionized environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and HRIS Systems. Previous working experience with Bamboo would be a strong asset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record check.
