Job DescriptionJ.S. Held is actively seeking a Senior Consultant for the Construction Advisory Team, specializing in Claims and Dispute Resolution in the Toronto, Ontario area. We are seeking individuals that have a specialization in construction claims and dispute resolution. This position is for a professional who has knowledge or experience with contract and/or change order management, critical path scheduling analysis, preparation of change orders or claims, cost analysis and quantification of damages, review of drawings and specifications, and other engineering and construction-related documents.
The work performed by the Senior Consultant may include the review and analysis of construction schedules, job cost reports, labor records, production quantities, earned values, project reports, change orders, contracts, correspondence, and other project records.
Job Responsibilities:
- Schedule delay analysis
- Loss of productivity/Efficiency analysis
- Scope change assessment
- Analysis of labor, equipment, and material costs
- Calculation of escalated material and/or labor costs
- Extended general conditions and requirements analysis
- Quantification of unabsorbed home office overhead
- Review and organization of project documents
- Development of work product, draft memos, presentations, and reports
- Travel as needed to project sites and client offices
- 5+ years experience with engineering or construction firms, or a construction claim/dispute firm
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or an Engineering discipline such as Structural, Civil, Electrical, MEP etc.
- Member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Microsoft Office - Advanced skills preferred
- Bluebeam or other PDF management software
- Scheduling software - Microsoft Projects/Primavera Products
- Analytical aptitudes and attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Character Requirements
- Communication: Effectively communicates at all organizational levels, both in writing and orally. Maintains confidentiality of clients and the firm.
- Project Focus: Sees things through to completion, deals effectively with potential obstacles and exhibits the flexibility to adapt to whatever a situation calls for. Work is completed within designated timeframes. Take proper action when time frames cannot be met to assure the work of others is not compromised. Uses non-billable time effectively.

- Quality of Work: Has strong work ethic, taking care to produce accurate work. Has mechanisms in place to check work and ensure the quality of work being produced is accurate and timely.
