Guest Support Supervisor

The Gathering Place is seeking an efficient, passionate supervisor to join our team and maximize our impact as an organization. This position will be responsible for the supervision of staff, overseeing daily operations and measuring overall success. The duties will consist of helping with various administrative tasks and ensuring that the program meets targeted goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to staff in the safe, effective and efficient delivery of services to Guests
  • Ensure that Guests basic needs are met by building positive working relationships and maintaining appropriate and consistent boundaries
  • Oversee operations and ensure adherence to The Gathering Place policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate respect, cultural competence and knowledge of trauma informed care in interactions with guests, staff, volunteers and collaborative partners.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive workplace environment, emphasizing the development of a culture that embodies the principles of Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Practice and Guest-Centered Support.
  • Support staff through regular coaching and mentoring to effectively meet the goals of the program
  • Assist in addressing crisis situations as necessary
  • Provide guidance, support and feedback to the Team Leads and Guest Support staff
  • Schedule Guest Support staff to meet operational requirements and identify any staffing gaps
  • Maintain an up-to-date relief list, determine staff availability and fill any necessary shifts
  • Participate in the recruitment process for Guest Support staff including screening and interviewing applicants
  • Assist with the onboarding process by orienting new Guest Support staff to the role
  • Approve bi-weekly timesheets for Guest Support staff as well as any submitted leave requests
  • Complete employee evaluations in consultation with the Guest Services Manager and address any performance issues in a timely manner
  • Work with Guest Support to develop daily living strategies for success for Guests and make recommendations to offer support during difficult times to those Guests.
  • Coordinate and chair relevant meetings
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

Education:

A degree or diploma in health or human service-related program

Experience:

  • 4 years' relevant work experience in a human services or other relevant setting.
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role

Requirements

  • Experience working with vulnerable or marginalized populations, with an understanding of the barriers and challenges caused by homelessness and poverty or lived experience with homelessness and/or poverty
  • Understanding of uses of substance use, mental health and harm reduction gained through direct experience working with individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing, implementing and maintaining responsive programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities and deadlines
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Clear record of conduct and vulnerable sector check

Hours of Work

The standard hours for this position are primarily 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. However, the successful applicant must be flexible, as there will be occasions that require work outside of these regular hours.
