POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee infrastructure projects from planning through to completion, ensuring that our initiatives meet both community needs and Seabird Islands standards for quality and sustainability.
Under the direction of the Director of Community Infrastructure, the Project Manager provides comprehensive project management services to the organization, government partners, and internal teams. This role involves leading infrastructure projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety guidelines. The Project Manager coordinates resources, oversees contractor performance, and communicates regularly with stakeholders to foster transparency and address project-related concerns.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Project Management:
- Manage infrastructure projects from concept to delivery, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and are meeting quality standards.
- Establish clear project scopes and goals, create detailed work plans, identify necessary resources, and delegate tasks across infrastructure teams and contractors to optimize project flow.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, allocating resources effectively to meet milestones and adapt to changing project needs without compromising timelines or quality.
- Conduct regular quality assurance checks, oversee inspections, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards to deliver projects that meet or exceed quality expectations.
- Act as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including agencies, contractors, and community representatives, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Develop and implement risk assessment plans, identify potential project challenges, and create mitigation strategies to prevent delays or cost overruns.
- Develop and distribute progress updates, respond to inquiries, and address feedback to foster trust and transparency.
- Monitor progress closely, addressing issues swiftly and adapting plans to accommodate unforeseen challenges, maintaining a solutions-focused approach.
Documentation and Budgeting:
- Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, ensuring expenditures align with approved financial plans and funding guidelines.
- Research and lead the development of grant applications, funding proposals, and financial reports to support project funding and growth.
- Prepare and present budget summaries, spending forecasts, and financial updates to stakeholders.
- Maintain organized and accurate project files, including contracts, blueprints, permits, and reports.
- Prepare regular progress reports and final project assessments to present to leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the creation and improvement of policies and protocols that ensure best practices in infrastructure project management.
Other Duties

WHAT YOU BRING
Qualifications
- Bachelors or graduate degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management, ideally in community infrastructure related industries.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations related to infrastructure.
- Project Management Certification is required.
Preferred:
- Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Cultural Competency:
- Deep understanding of First Nations cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.
- Experience working within Indigenous communities and applying culturally safe practices.
- Understanding of intergenerational trauma and its impacts on Indigenous peoples and communities.
Working / Special Conditions
- Initial and ongoing employment is subject to submission of a clear Criminal Record Check to ensure the safety and trust of the communities we serve. This check will be conducted every five years.
- Initial and ongoing commitment to the values and guidelines of Sq'wqel (Seabird Island Band), including our policies, procedures, standards of practice, and laws, is essential. This commitment supports our collective work, the community, and the responsibilities of this role.
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver's license and have access to safe and reliable transportation,
insured for community-based use, to effectively engage and support projects, work, and initiatives. - Flexibility in working hours may be required, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs and schedules of events, meetings, and engagements. Employees will be given as much notice as possible to any changes in schedule.
