Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain the Corporate Purchaser oversees the creation and management of corporate purchase orders, manages the Canadian vehicle fleet, assists with vendor management and is a resource for mill purchasing staff. Utilizing their proficiency and knowledge in procurement, this individual will work within the Supply Chain Team to ensure West Fraser receives the best value for money while ensuring efficiencies in process and decreasing risk and financial exposure. The incumbent will build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and provide assistance to both the mill and corporate staff, ensuring that West Fraser's Corporate Procurement Policy and purchasing procedures are followed.

The Corporate Purchaser will be based out of the Quesnel Corporate Office and will be required to travel on occasion to West Fraser's operations throughout Western Canada.

You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the creation and management of Corporate POs in alignment with West Fraser's Financial Policies.
  • Management of the Canadian fleet vehicles and corporate pool vehicles.
  • Acting as a resource to mill purchasing staff through providing assistance with the ERP system, part lookup and part data management.
  • Support new vendor setup requests from the business in conjunction with Accounts Payable.
  • Working closely with the Supply Chain Team, establish a continuous improvement process and operating rhythm to systematically review and improve the processes and policies related to all Procurement activities as they relate to their responsibilities.
  • Provide training to the Corporate and Mill level employees to ensure compliance with purchasing practices.
  • Assisting with ERP and Maintenance system implementation projects and changes as they relate to the Procurement modules.
  • Assist Supply Chain Managers with the management of vendors.
  • Special projects and tasks as assigned.

You'll Have

  • 5+ years experience in purchasing within an ERP and/or maintenance system in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with preference to an individual with forestry experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence business partners, help prioritize activities and resources to meet the organization's needs and build rapport.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to act as a collaborative partner to positively influence management and staff to act in the best interest of the company.

What will make you stand out:

  • A combination of experience and/or formal training in procurement in a forestry or manufacturing setting.
  • A strong understanding of procurement and parts supply for forestry operations.
  • A supply chain professional certification.

Compensation Package:

  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location. The typical yearly salary range is between $82,296-$96,700.
