General Job Description:

The position holder is responsible to manage the overall aspects of Machine Group for both Palmerston and Stratford locations. As a Manager at TG Minto Corporation, you are expected to carry out your assigned responsibilities in a professional manner. These responsibilities are designed to ensure that a high level of productivity is maintained in a SAFE and economical way.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible to plan, organize and direct all aspects of Machine group department.
• Responsible to guide, support and direct the Supervisor to ensure engagement, development and productivity
• Responsible to plan and drive projects for installation of automated equipment
• Ensure that all aspects in Machine group are carried out in safe manner
• Provide Technical advice and assistance to all members in the team to accomplish their tasks.
• Work with Supervisor to prioritize work assignments and projects to ensure completion within timeline.
• Maintain a documented weekly summary of completed work
• Responsible to ensure all mechanical and electrical inspection documentation are in place for new equipment.
• Develop good working relationships and attend to the needs of the Machine group and TG Minto as required.
• Communicate with the team regarding all critical challenges and updates.
• Responsible to guide and direct your team members for continuous improvements (Kaizen) in Machine group.
• Responsible for implementing and enforcing 5S / 2S1Y
• Assist in developing procedures and standardized practices to control various project issues in Machine group
• Train personnel in relevant areas as required
• Strong MS office skills are required
• Collaborate with outside contractors and vendors to coordinate the department needs
• Work in a safe manner and maintain 5S
• Report to the HR department, any manpower and /or disciplinary actions that require support.
• Conduct cost analysis and maintain a project's budget
• Work with Supervisor to negotiate project costs that may include equipment, materials and labour rates.
• Present Factory automated solutions to management that improve operational excellence

Supervisory Responsibility

You are responsible for providing a SAFE workplace for your team members. It is your responsibility to know and understand the regulations that directly relate to your assigned responsibilities. You must also ensure that your team members know and understand the regulations that directly relate to their assigned duties and the workplace.

• Lead Automation group meetings to brainstorm for ideas and strategies on suggested and approved projects.
• Schedule supervision for project work to be completed within TG Minto
• Submit the project status to management on a defined frequency
• Conduct yearly evaluations of members within automation group.

Qualifications:

• Have relevant mechanical and/or electrical qualification (minimum trade or possible Associate Diploma) and have experience as a supervisor in a technical group in an industrial or manufacturing plant.
• Ability to communicate with skilled trades at all levels of experience and management.
• Project leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
