POSITION: Quality Assurance Inspector (2 New)

RATE OF PAY: $42.81 per hour

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the quality assurance process as well as inspection and reporting requirements to ensure adherence to quality standards.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Completes incoming, in-process and final inspections on completed and/or partially completed tasks within Remanufacturing and Repair Centre and Diesel Shop
• Ensures all repairs/tasks are done in accordance with specifications using applicable checklists
• Completes all necessary inspection reports and documents related to the Quality Management System including the prevention, detection and disposition of non-conforming items
• Ensures calibration of measuring and testing equipment is updated
• Instrumental in setting QA metrics and generating QA documentation
• Completes necessary administrative duties associated with the QA program including computer system entries, reporting, and charting
• Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) as required
• May be required to alter start time or rest days in order to meet objectives established or required by the Quality Management System
• Provides leadership in enabling strategic change and corporate vision to stimulate advances in governance, accountability, and the implementation of asset management best practices
• Support people resource planning for the Asset Strategy and Integrated Planning initiatives, identifying desirable role and skill mix requirements, and ensuring ongoing work quality and deliverability of results
• Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Current shift schedules are:
o Monday to Thursday 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
o Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Certificate of Qualification in either Railway Car Technician 268R, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician - 421A, Truck and Coach Technician – 310T or Automotive Service Technician – 310S
• Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
• Quality Assurance courses/certifications considered an asset
• Good working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office
• Blueprint reading an asset
• Weld Inspection experience an asset
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and planning skills
• Understanding of I.S.O. 9001-2015 and AAR requirements would be an asset
• Experienced in conducting Internal audits
• Good understanding of Document Control
• Knowledge of maintenance and repairs of passenger cars, freight equipment, locomotive and components an asset
• Commitment to Health and Safety
