The Housekeeping Associate reports to the Environmental Services Manager and is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the home by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures. A major part of your role as a housekeeper will be to actively involve residents in everyday domestic living, creating meaningful occupations & activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of tasks related to housekeeping services as per the job routines, They include but are not limited to surface cleaning and disinfecting, vacuuming, sweeping, washing, polishing, and garbage/recycling waste management,
  • May include laundry services,
  • Completes mandatory training as scheduled,
  • Maintains safe Infection Control and Health and Safety Practices,
  • Respects privacy, and dignity and promotes confidentiality within a warm homely setting,
  • Reports any safety or risk concerns immediately to the Environmental Services Manager or designate,
  • Maintains effective communication with Residents, families, and fellow associates,
  • Promotes the vision, mission, and values, as well as the Residents' Bill of Rights,
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written instructions,
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate preferred,
  • Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in hospitality or a retirement home,
  • Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset,
  • Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of the elderly,
  • Ability to work from the heart and make others smile,
  • Ability to make the most of the time you have to provide positive social interactions,
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation,
  • Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act,
  • Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results from less than 6 months old and must be able to provide three supervisory references.
