About the Organization:
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) is a regional social planning and development organization which provides innovative programs and service to Indigenous communities in Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the northern York Region, including wholistic Health Services through the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Primary Care Team. As an Interprofessional Health Care Team, Mamaway team members provide primary care, mental health, traditional healing and health promotion services for Indigenous communities. We provide wholistic services in clinic locations, community and in partnership with mainstream service partners.
About the Role:
This Nurse Practitioner role will be providing the full scope of NP primary care services to clients accessing services at Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin. Working as part of the Indigenous interprofessional primary health care team, the Nurse Practitioner will provide trauma-informed, culturally safe primary health care to full scope with a strong emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention for Indigenous patients. The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, treat and monitor a wide range of health problems while engaging patients as full partners in their care plan.
What You Bring:
- Member in good standing and without restrictions, College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in Extended Class [RN(EC)] required
- Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and/or the Nurse Practitioners Association of Ontario
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized University and Certificate as a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Program preferred
- Experience working with Indigenous clients and populations and/or an openness to learn about cultural safety, trauma informed care and Indigenous determinants of health

Information About Working at BANAC Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin:
- Work is typically performed in clinic, office and community settings.
- Regular travel to meetings and communities, will be required – vehicle an asset
- Regular overtime work may be required from time to time, BANAC team members enjoy a flex schedule agreement
- Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: Tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar.
Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:
- Worksite location
- Valid C.P.R. and A.E.D. Certificates required
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License is required with clear check for vulnerable sector
