On behalf of our client, an established Public Sector organization (Ontario Government), Equality Street is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join their team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive business analysis services, guiding cross-functional teams through requirement gathering, stakeholder management, and facilitating workshops to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of system analysis, design, and implementation, with experience working within agile frameworks and collaborating with technical teams.
This is a contract position with hybrid work schedule that will require candidates to work 3 days from office. Location details will be discussed separately.
Please note, that prior Public Sector experience is highly desirable for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide business analysis services for diverse business and technological needs, interacting with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand requirements.
- Gather, document, and analyze business needs, developing and advising on business analysis policies, processes, best practices, and standards.
- Lead business process re-engineering initiatives, promoting cost-effective service delivery approaches.
- Collaborate with I&IT management and stakeholders to monitor project progress, resolve issues, and ensure business requirements are met.
- Apply structured processes for requirements gathering, including JAD sessions, interviews, mockups, and workshops.
- Conduct business modeling, including use case, data flow, and process modeling, ensuring alignment with functional and non-functional requirements.
- Develop performance measures and traceability matrices to evaluate business analysis efforts.
- Stay informed on emerging I&IT trends and technologies.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Proven experience in business analysis, systems analysis, and design.
- Experience working within agile frameworks, with ability to write and refine user stories, conduct sprint reviews, and manage product backlogs.
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies, COTS tools, and web-based technologies.
- Experience conducting user research, developing personas, and creating journey maps.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
- Awareness of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
- Experience with business functional modeling, business event modeling, and business process mapping.
Technical Skills:
- Strong background in systems analysis, requirements definition, prototyping, and feasibility studies.
- Knowledge of database management systems, data-mining/reporting-based tools, and systems integration.
- Experience with Cúram or similar COTS applications.
Soft Skills:
- Leadership skills, with ability to guide cross-functional teams.
- Collaboration and teamwork skills, with ability to work with stakeholders and technical teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP) or related certification an asset.
