MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANT
(TEMORARY PART TIME - CROSS SITE)
A temporary part time cross- site Medical Laboratory Assistant position is available within North Wellington Health Care (NWHC), working cross site at Palmerston and District Hospital (PDH) and Louise Marshall Hospital (LMH). The home site for this position will be Palmerston and District Hospital (PDH).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant course
- Ontario Society of Medical Technology (OSMT) certified and/or CSMLS Lab Assistant Certification
- Must be proficient in phlebotomy and performing ECG's
- Must manage Laboratory Information System (LIS) including both pre and post analytical procedures
- Superior communication, team building, technology and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with many and varied internal and external individuals, groups, and agencies
- Knowledge and compliance with IQMH, and Lab Licensing Standards
- Medical background and previous laboratory experience is a definite asset
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Satisfactory performance and attendance required
- Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
- Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired
HOURS OF WORK:
- As per department, available for days, evenings, including weekends
SALARY: $31.56 - $36.92 per hour
