The Senior Project Engineer - Facilities will coordinate detailed engineering, procurement, and fabrication for assigned projects, or project areas.
Reporting to the Facility Project Manager, the Senior Project Engineer acts as the initial and primary point of contact for project specific issues related to the Project Engineering and Design Team, the Project Management team, the Owner and any other documented Project Stakeholders. They will be accountable for proactively leading, coordinating and managing the scope of work as defined in the Design Basis Memorandum (DBM) and the Project Execution Plan (PEP) to ensure Quality, Cost, Schedule, and safety objectives are met and deviations are prevented and/or mitigated as necessary.

- Support the Project Manager or the Engineering Manager in the development of the Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), Project Execution Plan (PEP) and any other associated Project Support plans.
- Responsible for ensuring the design is executed such that the material budget defined within the Class III Cost Estimate is adhered to.
- Organizing the timely involvement of key stakeholders (Owners, Operations and Construction etc.) in support of the design development process thereby mitigating Cost and Schedule impacts due to preventable late project changes.
- Monitoring technical design changes ensuring that only necessary changes are made as they apply to safety, code/spec compliance, maintainability or operability.
- Participating in all levels of detailed design and 3D model reviews, Process Hazard Assessment, SIL analysis, constructability, operability and maintainability reviews.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Conduct engineering calculations, simulations, and modelling to optimize facility performance and efficiency.
- Select and specify equipment for gas processing facilities, including but not limited to compressors, heat exchangers, separators, and filters.
- Develop maintenance strategies, encompassing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
- Supporting both the Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure RFQ's and PO's for Vendor engineered and/or supplied equipment are complete and accurate to minimize change and mitigate cost increases.
- The Project Engineer is functionally responsible for ensuring the following are monitored, controlled and met on Schedule and on Budget:
- Quality Engineering and Procurement Deliverables,
- Quality Vendor (Supplier) Drawing and Data Requirements (VDDR or SDDR) Deliverables,
- Vendor Procurement and Fabrication Schedule Milestones,
- Testing / Checking / Inspection / Quality Assurance Schedule Milestones,
- Shipping Schedule Milestones
- Responsible for the development, checking and issuance of complete and accurate Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) and/or Construction Work Packages (CWPs) on Schedule.
- Management of the Schedules and Man-Hour Budgets.
- Managing the identification, clarification and disposition of Non-Conformances (NCR's), Requests for Information (RFI's) and Trends in support of the Management of Change Program (MOC).
- Implement and maintain safety management systems, emergency response plans, and environmental monitoring programs.
- Stay updated on safety and environmental regulations, incorporating them into the design and operation of gas processing facilities.
- Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance and project success.
- Foster positive relationships and maintain effective communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensures the incorporation of lessons learned from previous projects into the engineering of current projects.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and trends in packaging design and technology.
- Recognized bachelor's degree in engineering or technical diploma with a mechanical, petroleum, or process bias, along with acceptable experience.
- Knowledge of typical oil and gas equipment and systems such as Separators, Towers, Storage Tanks/Bullets, Flares, Knockouts, Instrument Air, Heat Medium packages, Truck Loading, Pumps, Modularization, etc., is an asset.
- 10+ years of experience in the design, engineering, and fabrication of gas processing facilities.
- P.Eng. (APEGA) or Professional Licensee (Engineering).
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint), strong ability to work well with customers, vendors, designers, and fabrication staff.
- Good knowledge of ASME/ANSI/API/CSA Codes and ABSA requirements.
