Summary:
Under direction of the Supervisor, the Early Childhood Educator will design, implement, and provide E.C.E. services in a school readiness program in partnership with parents and community members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and carries out daily schedules which include developmentally appropriate individual and group activities.
- Supervises children.
- Partners with parents by sharing knowledge. Confers with parents.
- Utilizes early childhood teaching techniques.
- Conducts assessments of children and develops curriculum based on the children's abilities. Initiates referrals as required.
- Attends to the children's physical needs. Ensures safety and monitors/promotes health and nutrition.
- Provides planning and evaluation of programs offered by the organization.
- May provide direction to parent volunteers and practicum students.
- Maintains confidentiality, includes and values families with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- E.C.E. certificate or diploma.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in related environment and a minimum of 1 year experience designing and implementing programs for children
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent teaching skills
- Well developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Good organization, time management skills
- Knowledge of group and community development processes and facilitation techniques
- The following attributes: creative, welcoming, enthusiastic, professional, outgoing and possess strong process leadership skills.
