Salary:

Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Underground Surveyor is responsible for supporting the safe execution of mining plans by taking measurements of development headings, stope cavity surveys and the update and organization of survey data. This position is a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule.

The focus of this role will include:

  • Follow safe working practices and site safety guidelines
  • Plan, organize and prioritize the daily survey tasks to ensure the timely delivery of data
  • Maintain mine survey data and advance survey controls in underground headings
  • Update development prints as required
  • Update survey actuals and as-builts within Deswik
  • Perform CMS and borehole scans for various underground voids
  • Maintain Survey equipment and supplies
  • Evaluate various survey technology and techniques for daily utilization
  • Compile month-end layouts and reports
  • Perform Check surveys of mine excavations to ensure control and as-builts are accurate
  • Assist with ventilation surveys and routine engineering projects as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of a two-year Engineering Technician diploma; Mine Technicians or Technologists preferred
  • 1 to 5 years' experience in an underground mining operation.
  • Proven ability in safe work practices.
  • Solid knowledge of underground mine design, as well as the technical processes related to planning and scheduling.
  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, Deswik.CAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of total stations and survey equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with various work groups
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent proven team player approach to work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
