Our client, a large financial services company in central Edmonton, is hiring a permanent Senior Accountant for their team. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS/ASPE standards.
• Manage the full cycle accounting process, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
• Oversee and perform monthly reconciliations for all accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze financial performance, including variances and trends, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and adjusting entries as needed.
• Ensure efficient and accurate processing of AP invoices, payment approvals, and vendor relationships.
• Oversee AR functions, including invoicing, collections, and maintaining positive client relationships to ensure timely payments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Monitor and enforce adherence to regulatory requirements, internal control policies, and financial best practices.
• Support internal and external audit processes by preparing audit schedules and resolving queries.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting function to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Must Have Qualifications:

• CPA designation or in progress
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment.
• Previous financial reporting experience
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/ASPE and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
