Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in guiding strategic financial decisions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and optimizing financial performance. This candidate is able to multitask, research new areas and skilled at problem solving, getting things done right.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis processes to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity and working capital to optimize capital allocation and support operational efficiency.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and reconciliations, in accordance with IFRS accounting standards.
• Process payroll while tracking vacation, benefits, expense reports, etc.
• Maintain organized e-records of all reports and documentation.
• Maintain stock options/warrants schedules.
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely T4/T4A, WCB, Health Tax, GST/QST filings.
• Provide financial leadership and guidance across the company and to the Board, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate investment opportunities, assess financial risks and drive operational excellence.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging technologies to anticipate potential impacts on financial performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with strong academic record;
• Canadian CPA designation.
• Experience managing the accounting of multiple currencies (preferably including cryptocurrencies) and multiple subsidiaries is a must.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management and accounting roles, preferably in the technology or cryptocurrency industry.
• Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
• Hands on day to day accounting
• Experience with Sage Intacct, Bamboo HR, Jira.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with cryptocurrency accounting, pan-Canadian taxation and regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels.
• Able to multitask, research, solve problems and get things done.
