MMIST is seeking a skilled front end focused Systems Engineer with a strong background in design, architecture, interface definition, and systems analysis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for understanding how systems and products work both internally and with the external world, to join our Ottawa based team!

What will you be doing?

• Develop and implement front-end architectures that are scalable, robust, and user-friendly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
• Create detailed design documents, flowcharts, and diagrams to communicate system architecture.
• Define and document interfaces between various system components.
• Ensure seamless integration and communication between subsystems.
• Work closely with software and hardware teams to ensure compatibility and performance.
• Conduct thorough analysis and trade studies to evaluate different design options and solutions.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges in system design.
• Optimize system performance, cost, and reliability through informed decision-making.
• Understand and analyze how systems and products work internally and interact with the external environment.
• Consider the broader impact of design decisions on the overall system performance and user experience.
• Ensure that systems are designed with a holistic approach, considering all aspects of functionality and integration.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Conduct research to explore new tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
• Apply innovative solutions to enhance the functionality and performance of our systems.

What do we need from you?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in front-end system design and architecture.
• Strong understanding of interface definition and system integration.
• Proficient in conducting analysis and trade studies to inform design decisions.
• Experience in integration and verification testing of electronic equipment including hardware/software.
• Exposure to development and management of requirements with knowledge of requirements management tools and configuration management tools.
• Knowledge of development of formal verification planning and procedures.
• Experience with flight critical fly-by-wire Flight Controls, Actuators, Air Data Systems, Pilot Inceptors, Inertial Sensors and/or Autopilot systems would be a very strong asset.
• Familiarity with ARP4754, DO-178 and DO-254 or equivalent similar stringent process requirements.
