About the role:

At Compass ELC, you will work as an Educator alongside some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated educators in the industry. You will spend your time engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers. You are passionate about early learning and care, emergent curriculum, and life-long learning. You are energetic, resourceful, and creative in your pursuits of creating learning opportunities, building connections, and engaging with children and families. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shift times will rotate within the program hours.


Hours will be based on the needs and funding of the program. Program hours are 7 am to 6 pm.

Some accountabilities associated with the role include:

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children's unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Documenting children's learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years' experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications including Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, Updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
    • OR; is currently pursuing or interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
