Apollo Health and Beauty Care is a developer and manufacturer of personal care products. Our manufacturing site, located in Toronto has an excellent opportunity available for a seasoned Maintenance & Reliability Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
The Maintenance & Reliability Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of the Maintenance Department and associated Contractors. This individual is also responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Preventative Maintenance System to ensure that all equipment is installed and maintained in safe, good working order with minimum disruption or downtime. Activity will also include planning and execution of maintenance overhaul of existing equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Maintenance & Reliability Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of the Maintenance Department and associated Contractors. Activity will also include planning and execution of maintenance overhaul of existing equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Responsible for supervising, coaching, mentoring and leading the Maintenance team responsible for repairing and maintaining all equipment
- Responsible for ensuring all Contractors brought in to do work are in compliance with WSIB and the Apollo Contractor Policy.
- Effectively acquires cost effective external maintenance services with multiple supplier quotes for final selection.
- Critically reviews outside contractor site work for completion and compliance to the work order/contract expectations.
- Works collaboratively with Finance and Purchasing to ensure vendor invoicing and Apollo payment administration processes are followed.
- Communicates Maintenance priorities and activities with a balance of meeting verbal reports, email summaries and spreadsheets.
- Accountable for Maintenance overall spend, both Preventative and Reactive Maintenance.
- Effectively manages the movement of assets for outside repair in full compliance with Apollos contractor policy and financial controls.
- Ensures equipment is safe to operate and in compliance with the requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.
- Works closely with operations to ensure equipment and systems are available when needed and working at required performance and quality expectations.
- Develops vertical start-up processes to ensure implementation of efficient production systems.
- Provides input and manages implementation, start-up, training and the successful closing of specific projects.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and applications in order to make recommendations, and successfully implements as approved for the continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Oversees the application and maintenance of the manufacturing control systems and instrumentation to ensure that the systems integrity and security are maintained.
- Supports and monitors the operation of plant utilities to include: refrigeration; compressed air; HVAC; power distribution; lighting; water purification; waste water treatment; and boiler systems; ensuring the uninterrupted supply to manufacturing within budgetary guidelines.
- Provides leadership as a subject matter expert in regards to safety in the designated area of responsibility.
- Executes a preventative maintenance program and creates a maintenance culture that reacts with a sense of urgency to downtime issues in a multi-shift operation.
- Post-secondary education in a technical / engineering discipline. Industrial Skilled Trade License (442A/433A) or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years experience in Maintenance Supervisor role, leading a multi-shift maintenance team or equivalent experience. Food or pharma experience, accustomed to working in a regulated GMP environment. High speed liquid filling and packaging experience preferred. Lean manufacturing experience. Proven ability to implement TPM in a multi-shift manufacturing operation. Experience with Reliability Centred Maintenance Systems is an asset. Experience with maintenance budgeting and management of maintenance spend. Extensive experience in a GMP manufacturing environment, with knowledge and experience in chemical processing, electronics, process pumps, and drives, HMIs, PLCs, HVAC, boilers, air compressors, refrigeration, liquid filling and packaging equipment.
