What is the Opportunity?

Decarbonization of new and existing buildings is the key challenge for our industry. We endeavor to find a distinct and niche role for Entuitive in this area, focusing on the highest performing projects where we can make the most impact. In a leadership position with the Sustainability + Performance team, you will fulfill several key roles at Entuitive. You will be a team player who internally and externally socializes what it means to be Entuitive and who positively contributes to the betterment of the firm.

As a subject matter expert in low carbon new and existing buildings, you will be responsible for elevating our service delivery in this area, keeping current with emerging trends and market shifts in order to recommend and implement best practices and client-centric solutions. This new role will grow to oversee and manage a team either on a project level basis or within the team by taking a hands-on approach and by providing guidance to ensure a high level of project delivery and service. The role will actively promote Entuitive services across all networks within the industry and communities in which we work. You will ensure all work is carried out in full support of our Vision, Mission, Values and One Company culture.

This role requires an individual interested in advancing their career by acting in a national role, supported by a well-established and entrepreneurial company with offices across Canada and in the United States. You will be responsible for overseeing small to large scale projects while maintaining a high level of service for the Sustainability + Performance team at Entuitive.

Who Would Be a Good Fit?

If you have a strong background in energy modeling and building performance of new and existing buildings, this could be the role to take your career to the next step. You should be interested in mentorship and training of staff, developing tools and processes, and acting as a client-facing voice to champion deep carbon reductions on projects. You should have a portfolio of projects you've worked on with high sustainability targets, including Zero Carbon Building, LEED, Federal Government, and Passive House.

What will you do?

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Provides day-to-day guidance to modelers ensuring to foster a collaborative environment where knowledge is shared, and creative solutions are supported.
  • Responsible for developing staff through technical mentorship and providing ongoing feedback along with conducting the annual review process to grow the net zero capability of the firm.

Business Development & Client Relations

  • Actively coordinate with other individuals and groups in Entuitive for marketing and business development efforts, cross selling between disciplines, work-sharing, sharing of expertise, development of technical standards, etc.
  • Provide creative and technical input into proposal development working closely with the marketing team
  • Focuses on maintaining existing client relations by ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner and services offered exceeds our clients' expectations in terms of quality.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and collaborative arrangements within the Architectural/Engineering/Construction community and other organizations to help achieve the goals of Entuitive, with a focus on developing relationships with key architects and mechanical/electrical engineering partner firms, as well as energy audit partners
  • Participate in industry related committees, events, programs, and presentations at conferences in order to increase Entuitive's profile within the industry.

Technical Delivery

  • Provide technical expertise to other staff ensuring a high level of deliverables by conducting technical reviews and instilling adherence to QA through established guidelines and best practices.
  • Engage and implement Quality Control measures and activities supporting a continuous improvement mind set and a commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Investigate and promote the use of advanced methods, techniques, technology or processes within project teams and throughout the firm.
  • Delivers preliminary and detailed designs as required and oversees mark ups and the coordination of specifications, and terms of reference complying with relevant codes and standards.
  • Responsible for signing and sealing drawings as needed ensuring a high level of professional integrity and a commitment to high quality standards.

Project Management

  • Responsible for effective project management including managing project budgets using the appropriate cost control methods and ensuring scheduling and resourcing plans meet the needs of project deliverables.
  • Responsible for client correspondence and communication including fee letters and status reports, ensuring the client and stakeholders are kept abreast of issues and resolutions are timely and well managed.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

  • A belief that improving the design and performance of buildings is a worthwhile, satisfying, and interesting ambition
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a keen desire to advance building simulation services at Entuitive
  • 8+ years of experience delivering building performance analysis in support of high-performance building design
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB), ASHRAE 90.1, LEED, Toronto Green Standard, Vancouver Building By-Laws, BC Energy Step Code, and Zero Carbon Building Standard
  • Understanding of the principles of building science and HVAC systems and best practice approaches to their simulation
  • A bachelor's or master's degree relevant to building performance (ie. engineering, architecture, building technology, building science, etc.), or similar training.
  • Active and valid P. Eng. in Canadian jurisdiction
  • Knowledge and interest in embodied carbon, climate resiliency, and building science considered an asset
