What Were Looking For:
- Experience: A minimum of 4+ years in a CPA firm in Canada, with significant experience in compilations, review engagements, and tax work for private enterprise clients. Experience managing and mentoring teams is essential.
- Education & Designation: Canadian CPA designation is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked with Big 4 firms (EY, PwC, Deloitte, KPMG) or mid-sized/national firms (MNP, Grant Thornton, RSM).
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE), proficiency in Caseware and Profile, and advanced computer skills, including MS Office.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on delivering clear, concise, and impactful information to clients and team members.
- Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Strong business acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound judgment calls based on experience and critical thinking.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight: Supervise the preparation of financial statements, review the work of Staff Accountants, and handle complex portions of client files with precision.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards by overseeing and reviewing Compilation and Review Engagements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant frameworks.
- Tax Expertise: Review corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns, investigate discrepancies, and make recommendations based on in-depth analysis of financial data.
- Client Management: Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring their needs are met, relationships are nurtured, and accounts continue to grow and develop.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and support the professional development of Staff Accountants, overseeing their work, managing engagement costs, and driving team success.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to enhance work processes and drive efficiency.
