About The Role
The Accountant will take on a hands-on role to ensure accuracy and integrity of the financial accounts of more than one subsidiary within the corporate group.
Position Details
This role will be 6-month contract, candidates who are seeking part-time hours are also encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Posts all vendor invoices and regularly performs vendor reconciliation.
- Posts all customer invoices and regularly performs customer reconciliation.
- Creates vendor payment batch and manages vendor relationship.
- Follows up with customers to ensure timely cash collections and regularly performs customer
reconciliations.
- Posts all fixed asset transactions in line with company policy.
- Maintains daily cash report.
Bi-weekly/Monthly Responsibilities
- Prepares semi-monthly cashflow forecasts.
- Maintains the general ledger by posting all other financial transactions.
- Set up and post all recurring journals.
- Perform all month end tasks in line with timelines including bank reconciliations, revaluation of foreign
balances, depreciation, recurring journals, intercompany reconciliation, etc.
- Prepare monthly margin analysis and income statement trend report.
- Prepares the balance sheet reconciliation.
- Maintain month end work papers.
- Prepares GST reconciliation and files GST returns on time.
Quarterly/Annual Responsibilities
- Prepares year end working papers for the financial statements.
- Prepares the quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.
- Supports with the annual income tax filing.
Other Tasks
- Support integration of business acquisition, amalgamation, or merger.
- Support with treasury requirements - credit card management, new accounts etc.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Successful completion of a business bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Working towards a CPA designation is an asset.
- Experience with Great Plains ERP.
- Microsoft NAV/Business Central knowledge considered an asset.
- Highly valuable to have experience with Sales pad.
- Excel and other Microsoft office skills.
- Analytical, ability to multi-task, meet tight timelines and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Great interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Known for thinking out of the box and making recommendations for process improvements.
