Position Employment Counsellor

Status: Full-time Term Position,

Schedule: Core hours: 8:00am-3:30pm

Reporting to: Director of Health

Salary: $43,680 /per year

Summary of Position: The Employment Counsellor with be providing Neskonlith communities with assistance and information on all aspects of employment search and career planning.

Relevant Knowledge and Abilities:

• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Neskonlith Indian Band policies and procedures,
• Interview clients to obtain employment history, educational background, and career goals.
• Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews.
• Assess need for assistance such as rehabilitation, financial aid or further training and refer clients to the appropriate services.
• 
  Job coaching, counselling, or mentoring clients
• Implementing action plans and monitoring progress to help clients achieve sustainable employment.
• Providing excellent customer service and resolving issues both in person and in a virtual service delivery environment
• Building partnerships with employers, community agencies and other stakeholders

Requirements and Qualifications:

• A valid BC Driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel to each of our Neskonlith communities,
• Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable sector), required.
• A post-secondary degree, certificate, or diploma in a relevant field (human resources management, career development, counselling, social work, psychology, adult education), or completion of course work in related fields, or 2 or more years of demonstrated experience.
