Hi, I'm Jen Jang from JENNY BIRD, and I am the Sr. Director of Product Development, Production and Sourcing. The Opportunity:
We are looking for a QC Specialist to join our Product Team. In this role, you will work closely with myself, our Product team, and our overseas partners. As a key member of our Product Team, you will be charged with reviewing all PP (pre-production) and TOP (top of production) and preparing all feedback in a timely fashion to keep production on schedule. You will also be responsible for overseeing our company's wear testing program to ensure all products produced are of the highest quality and in compliance with our standards and requirements (see Appendix A for a list of product types this currently includes and development that is planned for the next 12+ months).

Responsibilities:

Quality Control and Product Assurance

  • Reports to the Sr. Director of Product Development, Production and Sourcing and facilitates the QC process with our overseas partners for all product categories.

o Coordinates and tracks the timeline of all QC inspections with our 3rd party partners and arranges all relevant tests required. This includes, but is not limited to, pull tests, sweat tests, colorfastness, and all compliance tests.

  • Oversees and facilitates all jewelry wear testing set forward by the Sr. Director.

o Reviews the completed testing samples with the Product Manager and Sr. Director and compiles the findings of all wear tests.

o Works with the Product and Design teams, as well as our overseas partners to problem solve any issues that arise.

o Supports the Sr. Product Manager with organizing all adjacent product wear testing for our Goodies category.

  • Prepares all product feedback provided by the Product Team. This includes, but is not limited to, pre-production, in production, and post production feedback.
  • Leads any in studio QC reviews for any products needed where a 3rd party QC is not possible. This includes, but is not limited to, any local based production runs produced by our bench artisan.

Full Lifestyle Evaluation of Product Quality

  • Works closely with the Client Care (CC) team to monitor all product flags or quality issues.

o Analyzes the monthly KPI report and reviews new product feedback provided by the CC team. Relays all feedback, such as sizing or fit issues to the Product and Design teams.

o Alerts the Sr. Director of any customer feedback or quality issues that arise and works with our Product team and overseas partners to rectify any quality issues immediately.

o Spot checks all first production runs when requested. Alerts the Sr. Director of any concerns and/or unapproved product changes.Product Information Integrity

  • Keeps up to date with product standard requirements and how this differs by import country.
  • Works closely with the Packaging Manager to ensure all product information is accurately represented on new trims and packaging.
  • Provides all new product detail information for cross-functional departments such as, E-commerce, Wholesale and Design teams, for all new products produced. Assists the Product Managers in all PK sessions.

Product Organization

  • Physical organization in our Toronto office.
  • Prepares and maintains all other production and QC related documentation as required by the Sr. Director.

Note that some of the above responsibilities may be tweaked slightly based on the candidates experience and areas of strength. Any such minor amendments to the above will be shared with the candidate as a part of the hiring process.

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 2 year's experience in product development and/or production of goods in apparel, accessories, or home goods categories.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience specializing in product quality control with overseas vendors in apparel, accessories, or home goods categories.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities on the go.
  • You're an excellent communicator and problem solver.
  • You're a naturally detail-oriented and extremely organized person.
  • A Project Management mindset: someone who loves tracking to a timeline while keeping detailed documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, and comfortable learning new online Project Management platforms.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study.

Nice to have:

  • Jewelry experience
  • Knowledge in CA Prop 65 and EU Reach regulations
  • Fluency in Mandarin or Thai

Location:
We have flexible working arrangements for the team however this role involves physical product review and organization of our samples and studio space. Must be flexible to be in-person at our Toronto office (East Room located at 507 King East, Toronto, Ontario) up to 4 days a week as required. This role requires timely communication with overseas vendors. Must be flexible to shift working hours to communicate during off-hours as required.
