Position: QC Lead Operator
Location: Toronto, ON - Onsite
Hours of Operation: 8:00am - 4:00pm ET (with some flexibility)
*Pay Range: $24.00 - $28.00 CAD hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead the QC Team and its implementation of designated workflows, providing expertise on various project specifications. Use technical abilities to review picture and sound assets for possible impairments, and rate errors against the specifications designated for each project. Have a critical sensitivity for accurate video, audio, and description details in reports. Maintain the expected standards of quality for seamless workflow of QC deliverables through standardized procedures and close communication with Company 3 staff and clients.
MAIN DUTIES:
As a QC Lead Operator, you will be responsible for leading the QC team, ensuring QC staff are scheduled to cover client needs, and ensuring deadlines are understood and met by the QC Team. You will also be responsible for producing QC evaluation reports for clients, while ensuring exceptional customer service. Duties as outlined below:

The ideal candidate will have a background in Video/Film and have prior working experience with a variety of post software such as DaVinci Resolve, Colorfront QC Player, and Avid Media Composer. They must have a technical understanding of various film & television specifications and broadcast standards, and practical experience with a variety of video/audio file formats, codecs, and metadata. Department Lead:
- Establish self as the workflow lead on each project needing QC services, interfacing directly with Company 3 producers and clients.
- Help develop guidelines and best practices for standardizing the most common processes and requirements.
- Confirm that procedures determined at each project's start-up are being adhered to per the approved specifications. Advise on any necessary revisions or special requests.
- Participate in training operators and evaluate their abilities to ensure staff are ready to deliver reports with complete accuracy.
- Ensure QC staff and project bookings are scheduled properly to cover the needs of the clients, including work shifts and vacation time.
- Provide ongoing instruction and guidance to operators as needed.
- Ensure deadlines are understood and met by the QC Team. Prioritize overlapping work as appropriate.
- Produce QC evaluation reports for clients, listing packaging details, video/audio levels, and any impairments discovered.
- Rate technical impairments consistently, according to severity, based upon the established criteria.
- Check delivery files for fixes and re-evaluate any changes accurately.
- Be consistent with descriptions and ratings, adhering to the guidelines provided by clients and Company 3.
- Update project activity and any potential concerns to the Producers and Supervisors.
- Ensure excellent customer service by recognizing and meeting the needs of clients
- Relay any technical, operational, or support concerns in an effective and timely manner
- Provide assistance and technical information to clients, colleagues, and other departments
- Take part in training opportunities and cross-departmental initiatives
- Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the mission and values of Company 3
- Perform other duties that may be assigned
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have a background in Video/Film and have prior working experience with a variety of post software such as DaVinci Resolve, Colorfront QC Player, and Avid Media Composer. They must have a technical understanding of various film & television specifications and broadcast standards, and practical experience with a variety of video/audio file formats, codecs, and metadata. Additional desired skills include:
- Familiarity with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux computer platforms
- Knowledge of digital cinema playback systems and formats is an asset
- Ability to evaluate, learn, and implement new software and hardware
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure
