What is the opportunity?

As the Design Quality Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of all deliverables, processes, and systems within the firm. You will lead the quality management team and their initiatives, implement quality standards, and monitor performance to ensure compliance with client project requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify quality-related risks and implement proactive solutions. This is a key role in maintaining the reputation of Entuitive as a trusted partner within our client and consulting engineering community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and build a corporate quality management team responsible for implementing quality standards, monitoring quality performance, and maintaining corporate adherence to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Lead the creation, enforcement, and documentation of quality control procedures to ensure all engineering designs, reports, and deliverables meet Entuitive's ISO 9001 standards and client expectations.Collaborate with project managers, design managers, and engineers in other Entuitive departments or offices to identify quality-related issues, motivate teams, and implement improvements and corrective actions.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems (QMS) for all projects and processes within the firm consistent with the Entuitive ISO QMS Manual.
  • On major projects, where Entuitive is the Prime or Lead Design Consultant, act as the Lead Design Quality Manager and develop, implement, and maintain the project Design Quality Management Plan (DQMP) consistent with the project scope and client quality requirements, and with oversight of all project quality issues. Duties include:
      • Lead the quality-related discussions during project team meetings to ensure that quality is integrated into every phase of the project lifecycle.
      • In coordination with the Project Manager, ensure the timely completion of project audits, inter-disciplinary design reviews, mutually acceptable comment resolutions, and corrective action and conformance plans to address systemic issues.
      • In coordination with the Document Controller, ensure that all project-related documents (drawings, calculations, reports, specs, minutes of meetings, change orders, etc.) are properly filed and managed with access and version-controls.
      • Review and assess the DQMP's of other consultants providing design services to Entuitive on a given project.
      • Identify and assess design quality risks across all project phases and disciplines and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
    • Conduct regular internal audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of Entuitive's quality management practices and compliance with industry standards and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
    • Provide training and mentorship to staff on ISO 9001, quality control processes, best practices, and quality management tools.
    • Coordinate with external ISO 9001 consultants and auditors during annual ISO audits in each Entuitive office.
    • Lead initiatives to continually enhance quality processes, tools, and methodologies to assess quality issues, reduce non-conformities, and promote efficiency.
    • Review project proposals, contracts, and specifications to ensure alignment with client quality expectations and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and present quality performance reports, analysis of quality metrics and KPI's from internal and external audits to senior leadership, providing insights into lessons-learned and areas for improvement, and ensuring transparency across all Entuitive projects.
    • Ensure corporate compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including ISO 9001:2015 and other applicable industry quality standards.
    • Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff and management on quality standards, best practices, and new quality-related technologies or processes.
    • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment on quality standards and expectations, responding to quality-related inquiries and resolving concerns promptly.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance quality and process efficiencies, reduce project and corporate risks, and increase client satisfaction.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

  • A Bachelor or Masters degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field. Additional certifications in project and quality management such as PMP, IRCA, ASQ, CSQ, CQA, CQE, CQM, LEAN Management, or Six Sigma is a plus.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in quality management, with at least 10 years in the consulting engineering industry. Experience as an ISO 9001 lead auditor is a plus.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing quality management systems (QMS).
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements such as ISO9001:2015 and FTA guidelines.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to collaborate across various Entuitive departments and offices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with both internal teams, external consultants, clients, and stakeholders.
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities and a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency with quality management software and project management tools such as ProCore, Master Control, TrackWise, Q-Pulse, EtQ Reliance, DOORS and Primavera.
  • A passion for fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
