About Us:The Social Planning Council of Ottawa (SPCO) is dedicated to fostering sustainable social and economic development within our community. Our Ottawa Ethno-Cultural Seniors Network collaborates with over 30 local grassroots organizations to enhance the quality of life for ethnocultural seniors, addressing issues such as social isolation and barriers to accessing services.
Position Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Program Coordinator to lead and manage the Ottawa Ethno-Cultural Seniors Network. The successful candidate will work with the ethnocultural senior leaders to oversee program development, coordinate activities, and work closely with community partners to support healthy aging and social inclusion among ethnocultural seniors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborative Program Design & Implementation: Work directly with ethnocultural seniors to understand their needs and preferences, co-developing programs and activities that reflect their unique cultural identities and support their well-being.
- Community Engagement: Build and sustain meaningful relationships with ethnocultural communities, local organizations, and stakeholders, ensuring that programs remain responsive to participants' needs and interests.
- Event Coordination: Organize and facilitate culturally relevant events, workshops, and social gatherings, with a focus on empowering seniors to take an active role in program development and execution.
- Advocacy and Outreach: Represent the voices and needs of ethnocultural seniors in the community, advocating for inclusive policies and services that reduce isolation and improve quality of life.
- Resource Development and Funding: Identify funding opportunities and assist with grant applications to support program growth and sustainability.
- Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Monitor program outcomes, prepare progress reports, and gather feedback from seniors to ensure that programs continue to meet evolving needs effectively.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Community Development, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 experience in program coordination or management, preferably within the non-profit sector and with diverse senior populations.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in [languages relevant to the community, if applicable].
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of ethno-cultural communities.
- Experience in community outreach, partnership development, and volunteer coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of issues affecting seniors, particularly within ethno-cultural contexts.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to accommodate program activities.
