Job Title: Social and Health Services Researcher
Location: Ottawa, (In person at - 815 St Laurent Bvd, Ottawa, ON).
Employment Type: Part-time

We seek a passionate and skilled Social and Health Services Researcher to join our team and help us advance our mission.

Position Overview:As a Social and Health Services Researcher, you will lead and support research projects aimed at understanding and addressing the complex social and health issues facing marginalized communities. You will work closely with stakeholders, community groups, and policy-makers to design, execute, and analyze research projects that contribute to evidence-based solutions and policy recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Design & Methodology: Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to explore pressing social and health issues.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Conduct surveys, focus groups, interviews, and other data collection methods, ensuring rigorous data analysis and interpretation.
  • Community Engagement: Work collaboratively with community members and organizations to incorporate lived experiences and insights into research design and findings.
  • Reporting & Publication: Prepare detailed research reports, policy briefs, and presentations for stakeholders, policy-makers, and academic audiences.
  • Grant Writing & Proposal Development: Assist with grant writing and securing funding for new research projects.
  • Advocacy & Impact: Translate research findings into actionable recommendations to support advocacy and inform policy development.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in social and health services research, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality research and analysis.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and tools.
    • Proficiency in statistical software.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presentations.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
    • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in research practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working on issues related to health disparities, social determinants of health, or community-based participatory research.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized populations, including Black, Indigenous, and newcomer communities.
