WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, equipment, and wiring, ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and regulations.
- Carry out repairs on electrical systems, including troubleshooting issues to restore functionality quickly and effectively.
- Check, inspect, repair, maintain, commission, test, service electrical systems including PLC'S and related electrical controls, devices, and equipment.
- Install and upgrade electrical systems, wiring, and components in line with technical specifications and building codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to ensure accurate installations and modifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential issues, ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Document inspection results and recommend corrective actions to avoid system failures and improve reliability.
- Diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment and problem-solving skills to quickly determine root causes and implement solutions.
- Address electrical repair requests promptly, helping to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production flow.
- PLC troubleshooting and programming for large automation production lines, both on shop floor and remote interaction. Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff.
- Use the Maintenance Request System to log and track repair requests, completed tasks, and equipment status updates, ensuring accurate maintenance records.
- Participate in maintenance team meetings, providing updates on electrical maintenance and collaborating on cross-functional projects.
- Work closely with other maintenance team members to support repairs, share knowledge, and coordinate maintenance schedules.
- All other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent
- Must be a qualified electrician (3-5 years experience)
- Understands all aspects of company products and their application
- Able to carry out safe lock-out procedures when performing any repair or maintenance
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
- Knowledge of operation, limitation, and maintenance of all applicable machinery and equipment
- Knowledge of material handling techniques, use of cranes, slings, etc.
- Experience and training with PLCs and robotics would be an asset.
- Ability and knowledge of working at heights
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OHSA), promote safe working practices including safe equipment operation, hazard reporting, and awareness of rights.
- Maintain a level of education necessary to keep pace with new manufacturing technology and company requirements
