Senior Electrical Designer

TWD is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our team in Ontario (GTA or Sarnia)! This exciting opportunity will involve reporting to the Electrical Lead to provide and produce quality electrical designs and drawings. The Senior Electrical Designer will also be responsible for the preparation of project specifications.
Duties:
• Design of electrical layouts for cable raceways, lighting, electrical grounding and lightning protection systems, substations, E-Houses, and heat tracing elements
• Design and develop high voltage (230 kV+) single line/3-line diagrams as instructed by Engineers.
• Prepare 3D model for HV electrical equipment, underground ducts and cable trays
•Prepare equipment list and load list for the entire project
• Design electrical heat tracing system and prepare bill of materials
• Design and develop control schematics for motors, switchgear and plant lighting systems
• Prepare cable schedules, panel schedules and termination drawings in consultation with single line diagrams and vendor drawings
• Review vendor drawings for MCC, switchgear, UPS and other electrical equipment, as required
• Provides technical guidance to lower-level design/drafting personnel and reviews completed assignments for accuracy
• Interface with other disciplines (civil and mechanical) on design and multidiscipline packages Prepare electrical area classification drawings
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, generating facilities, or power distribution systems.
• Degree or diploma in electrical technology
• Ability to coach and assist team members
• Strong field experience in operating facilities
• Familiar with low voltage switchgear and switchboards
• Thorough understanding of CEC and NEC codes
• Thorough knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems and API-505 standard
• Proficient in current release of AutoCAD, Plant-3D, and Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel)
• Lighting design experience using software DialuX, AGI or other popular software
• Experience in preparing load list, voltage drop calculation, cable schedule, equipment list and bill of materials
• Thorough in design of cable tray system, cable tray loading and heat tracing design
• Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices
• Expertise in E&I design practices for the heavy industry (including oil and gas, chemical, power or mining industries)
