Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Training Specialist to develop, deliver, and evaluate emergency response training programs tailored to client needs. This role includes creating engaging training materials, conducting sessions and drills, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining detailed records, and providing expert consultation. The specialist will also support business development efforts to enhance client preparedness and drive company objectives.

What You'll Do & How You'll Make an Impact

  • Create tailored emergency response training programs, including manuals, presentations, and hands-on exercises, aligned with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Liaise with clients, H2Safety departments, and the External Training team to identify and assess training requirements and objectives.
  • Develop quality training exercises that consistently meet and comply with relevant stakeholders' (i.e., clients, internal departments, and regulatory agencies) requirements, objectives, and standards.
  • Facilitate engaging in-person and virtual training sessions, conduct emergency drills, and provide actionable feedback to improve client preparedness.
  • Assess training effectiveness using feedback and metrics, continuously refining programs to meet client needs and industry trends.
  • Ensure programs meet regulatory requirements, support client certifications, and maintain detailed records of training activities and outcomes.
  • Showcase training expertise, contribute to proposals for new clients, and stay updated on industry advancements to drive business growth.

What We're Looking For

  • Advanced training and experience in Emergency Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency response, safety training, or a related field.
  • A proven track record in developing and delivering training programs for diverse audiences.
  • Valid certifications in emergency response or safety training (preferred).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of emergency response procedures, protocols, and best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and compliance requirements (e.g., BCER, AER, OSHA, NFPA).
  • Familiarity with various training methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • High adaptability and flexibility to adjust training approaches based on client requirements and feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and leadership in project execution.
  • Strong ability to learn and teach software tools and applications.
  • A high degree of self-discipline and strong scheduling/organizational skills.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license, at least 3 years of reportable driving history in Canada, and a clean or minimal demerit point driver's abstract with no significant traffic violations.
  • Maintain flexibility to travel 20% of time to client locations in Calgary, throughout Western Canada, and internationally.

Bonus Experience

  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100, 200, or 300
  • Certified to instruct Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100 or 200
  • Completion of an Adult Education certification and/or knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Experience developing new training content and/or working in a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Emergency response experience, understanding of emergency response plans (ERPs), and/or knowledge of emergency response related legislation, regulations, and compliance
  • Oil and gas knowledge / industry work experience
