Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.

  • Handle project administration, including drawing revisions, RFI's, product submittals, shop drawing submittals and site instructions. Ensure the correct info is provided to field staff and updated accordingly.

  • Monitor projects to ensure labour, material and equipment costs align with project progress and remaining schedule.

  • Prepare and review project schedules. Coordinate with clients and field staff to ensure work areas are ready and proper workforce is allocated.

  • Review drawing revisions, site instructions and PCO's and estimate change orders for any additional work.

  • Prepare monthly progress invoices, statutory declarations, schedule of values, etc.

  • Prepare monthly work in progress reports and review with management/owners.

  • Coordinate with engineer and prepare shop drawings using AutoCAD.

  • Arrange accommodations for traveling workers.

  • Assist with purchase orders on back-up basis.

  • Contact local union reps for worker requests, submit dispatch requests.

  • Be able to pre-emptively identify potential supply chain issues, labour shortages, or project shortfalls. Come up with and execute contingency plans to minimize financial or schedule loss and keep the project on track.

  • Dispute resolution at all levels of the project.

  • Risk management, risk mitigation.

  • Prepare subcontracts and coordinate the work of subcontractors, ensure no scope gaps exist and subcontractors are able to complete the work on budget and schedule.

  • Ensure good lines of communication exist between senior management, the Owner, and field staff.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Construction Management diploma or Engineering degree preferred.

  • Completion of or working towards completion of the PMP designation is an asset.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years work experience on commercial or industrial projects.

  • Ability to organize, develop, communicate, and execute on budgets, schedule, quality, risks etc.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn other software programs as required.

  • In-depth understanding of prevailing project management methods.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in both team and self-directed environments
