Therapeutic Respite Home

Evolving Youth Care Inc. has developed a therapeutic respite program which aims to fill a critical gap in services in the east region for families in need of out-of-home respite services. Clients are accepted through a referral process which identifies needs and establishes goals.

As a member of the Evolving Youth Care team you will provide frontline services to children and youth who may require support in remaining safe in the community, may present with verbal or physical aggression, may require support in establishing hygiene routines as well as support in developing a daily regime which is conducive to a healthy lifestyle.

You will work closely with our clinical team including our Board Certified Behaviour Analyst. There will be an expectation of you to follow daily routines with consistency while maintaining a strict daily tracking to ensure we are able to assess goals and measures.

Hours: 8am-4pm, 4pm-11pm, 11pm-8am

Days: Requirement to be available Week days and Weekends on a rotating schedule

Evolving Youth Care is looking for team members who demonstrate positive leadership skills and know how to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients. This position will include taking responsibility for the youths' safety and security, assisting clients with basic hygiene, emotional support, and day to day needs and activities.

Key components of the position:

· Assess physical and emotional needs of the clients, organizing support and activities that tailor to their individual needs.

· Engage clients in activities that promote socialization and structure while offering emotional regulation support as needed.

· Provide basic hygiene care, including but not limited to toileting, changing clothes, and assisting with bathroom breaks.

· Ensure a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment, providing age-appropriate activities with necessary adaptation.

· Working along side the family with planning, supporting and overall care for the client.

· Work within the youth's community, utilizing local resources and programs.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Ideally, you possess a high school diploma along with one of the following:

- Developmental Services Worker (DSW) diploma

- Personal Support Worker (PSW) diploma

- Child and Youth Care Worker (CCW/CYW/CYC) diploma

- Social Service Worker (SSW) Diploma

- Community Justice Worker (CJW)

Similar education and experience working in Social Services will also be considered.

- Experience working with individuals with special needs

- Experience with personal care such as basic hygiene

Additional Requirements:
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

- Valid G Driver's License (required)

- Driver's Abstract
- Personal Vehicle (required)

- Car insurance

- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and/or First Aid will be considered an asset.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time, Overnight

Pay: $22.00 -$25.00per hour
