One of our clients is looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented Senior Tax Manager with strong tax planning and compliance experience to join our growing practice in downtown Vancouver.
The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a self-starter to join their team. As part of our Canadian Tax Group, you will work directly with clients and Partners to provide tax planning and compliance services to a diverse client base. This role is ideal for a Senior Tax Manager with solid public practice tax experience who seeks a fast-paced environment within a growing firm.
This position generally requires working from our Vancouver office. Upon completing the probationary period, the successful candidate may work on a hybrid schedule.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Manage and coordinate tax planning and compliance services for corporations, partnerships, trusts, and individuals
- Assist with tax advisory and planning engagements, including drafting written memorandums and instruction letters
- Identify opportunities to provide tax planning and other special services
- Adapt and prioritize to address client service needs; deliver high-quality tax service and advice
- Identify and research technical tax issues
- Stay updated on new tax legislation and case law
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to staff
What Were Looking For:
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant tax planning and compliance experience
- Completion of the In-Depth Tax Program
- Senior Tax Manager with strong analytical skills, the ability to identify and research tax issues, and the creativity to formulate innovative solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with inbound and outbound cross-border tax compliance, including foreign reporting (T106, T1134, and T1135 forms), foreign accrual property income, and surplus pools
- General understanding of the Canada-US Tax Treaty
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with a passionate client service orientation
- Clear and above-par professional communication skills
- Willingness to collaborate and assist audiences with varied degrees of technical expertise
- A personable and outgoing demeanor
- Self-motivated team player who takes initiative
Additionally, you will need to:
- Be present in person at the Vancouver office. Upon completing the probationary period, you may work on a hybrid schedule (2 days in the office and 3 days from home)
- Work additional hours during peak times (Feb-Apr and June)
- Occasionally travel locally to visit clients or attend meetings, so access to a vehicle is preferred
- Maintain a set schedule to provide support to the practice groups
