We are seeking a motivated and skilled Carpenter to join our construction team in British Columbia. This role is integral to the construction process, involving building, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, steel, and other materials. Applicants should be proficient in both English (French proficiency is an asset) and demonstrate strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, safety standards, and blueprint interpretation.

Job Overview

As a Carpenter, you will work on a variety of construction projects, from residential buildings to commercial and industrial structures. This role involves working with a team of other tradespeople and ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety regulations. The ideal candidate has experience with both rough and finish carpentry and can handle tasks ranging from framing to installing trims.

Responsibilities

  • Construction and Installation: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials such as wood, metal, and drywall to construct frameworks, walls, roofs, and other structures.
  • Reading Blueprints: Interpret blueprints and building plans to meet the specifications of each project.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct repairs or renovations on existing structures as needed.
  • Tool and Equipment Handling: Safely operate power tools, saws, drills, and other carpentry equipment.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside other trades, such as electricians and plumbers, to coordinate project phases.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of materials used and report on project progress.

Requirements

  • Certification: Red Seal Certification as a Carpenter in British Columbia or proof of relevant apprenticeship completion.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of carpentry experience in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of construction processes, carpentry techniques, and ability to read technical drawings.
  • Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of construction safety protocols and local building codes.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work on your feet, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specialized carpentry, such as cabinetry or finish carpentry.
  • Familiarity with sustainable building materials or eco-friendly construction techniques.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French.
