OVERVIEW

Lauren Services is looking for a distribution engineer who will be responsible to provide technical expertise, effective operation and maintenance for the distribution systems and related capital projects. The distribution engineer will be responsible for producing studies and layouts of equipment and electrical systems, which meet the client's specifications. The candidate shall be familiar with industrial oil and gas facility electrical design including single lines, area classification, power system studies and power design.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

May include but are not limited to:

  • Complete engineering analysis and design reviews on assigned capital distribution projects
  • Provide project engineering oversight, responsible for engineering schedule and quality assurance on assigned capital distribution projects.
  • Lead or participate in engineering investigations of operational events.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of transmission, distribution and station related standards, design guidelines and criteria.
  • Assist Transmission & Distribution standards engineers with non-standard approvals.
  • Support the planning and development of capital distribution plans to address growth, maintenance and reliability of the distribution system.
  • Support development and maintenance of distribution design tools
  • Support other engineering departments as required including natural gas.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering plus 10-15 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Must be a Professional Engineer registered or able to be registered with APEGA/EGBC.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants with previous distribution and utility experience.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Knowledge of distribution engineering and general engineering principles
  • Knowledge of software such as MS Office and MS-Project, design software such as PLS-CADD
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial, national, and international codes, regulations, safety and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Our offices are a hybrid working environment and we have the option of Employee Hourly or Contractor hourly. The rate would be in the range of $65-95/hour.
