Northlake is looking to hire a Collections Representative to work at our new office in Barrie. The ideal candidate must have 1-2 years experience in a consumer collections role, a passion for working with customers over the phone, work within company policy but can think outside the box when needed, target focused with an extremely high level of integrity. The successful candidate must have solid accountability, excellent problem-solving skills and use good judgment.

ABOUT THE ROLE
- ** This is an in-office position **
- Working with late-stage delinquency and creating financial plans to help them get caught up
- Addressing frequently asked questions and informing our customers
- Provide excellent service while ensuring exceptional results in the collection of financial loans in accordance with NorthLake Financials' established metrics and targets
- Contact past due customers through the appropriate channeling methods, request and negotiate payment arrangements within authorized limits, and send correspondence to collection customers
- Use company-specific policies and procedures to maintain and coordinate firm payment recovery
- Assess and mitigate risk by referring accounts for further action
- Document all call activity details in the collections system to reflect any action taken, e.g. commitments to pay and/or amounts and dates agreed upon
- Perform regulatory standards and best practices on collection accounts
- Achieve individual collection targets to meet department and companywide goals
- Complete other collection responsibilities, as assigned
IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
- Ability to work in office.
- Ability to work flexible hours between 7 am and 9 pm Mon-Fri and every other Saturday
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
- Fluent in English both oral and written
- Effective communication skills – being able to effectively communicate with customers over the phone
- Persuasion – in addition to negotiation skills, collections agents should be persuasive in explaining why it's in a customer's best interest to pay off a particular debt
- Patience and diligence – often, collections agents need to be patient and diligent, especially when it comes to tracking down the individuals responsible for paying off a debt as customers may avoid calls from collections agents or quickly hang up
- Ability to show discretion in confidential matters
- Must be able to work independently as well as be an effective team member
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
