Job Summary:
This key position will be responsible for providing quality assurance and assisting with the quality management system, documentation, and process. This individual must be willing to take initiative without supervision to develop and refine programs needed to support our growing business. He/she must have strong communication skills since they will interact directly with our purchasing groups as well as vendors, The position will grow with the company, requiring a flexible and energetic person that wants to grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate dimensional accuracy of machined parts to ensure they meet the agreed/stated drawing specifications and tolerance.
  • Maintain records, attend and support all necessary meetings, and audits per ISO 9001:2015
  • Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process-related concerns.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Prepare inspection reports and Non-conformance Reports, SOP's
  • Provide support to all departments for quality-related issues
  • Communicate quality issues to the interested parties, such as engineering, manufacturing, project management and suppliers, and work to find the best solutions
  • Develop and execute procedures and processes to support Quality Management System
  • Liaise with external suppliers and contract manufacturing organizations and review supplier documentation to ensure Quality and Company requirements are met and maintained.
  • Participate and facilitate in internal QMS and supplier audits and generate reports, Preventive Control Plans

Qualifications:

  • A strong technical background in quality control and inspection of large machinery and precision machined parts
  • The ability to read assembly drawings, CAD drawings, and specifications
  • Machining/millwright trades and hydraulics experience an asset
  • Working knowledge of ASTM & CSA Material Standards, ASME Inspection Standards, CWB Welding Standards
  • A strong attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritize and manage time on multiple projects
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015
  • High proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MRP systems, and CAD systems
  • College-level technical education or apprenticeship in trade related to manufacturing, steel fabrication processes, or production of machining operations
  • Able to lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Have a valid driver's license and own transportation for local travel.
  • Minimum two years of related experience in quality assurance functions.
  • ASQ certification is not required but is considered an asset
  • Critical thinking skills, detail-oriented, can work alone and in a team setting reliable, organized, focused, and motivated.
  • Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques such as callipers and micrometres.
