Marine Mechanic

Salary Range: CA $450 - 550 per day
The Company
Bridgemans Marine Transport (BMT) is a fully integrated marine service provider, equipped with marine certified crew and a fleet of unique assets servicing industrial projects around the world. Bridgemans and Haisla First Nation have created a joint venture limited partnership -Bridgemans Kitamaat Joint Venture Limited Partnership (BKJV) to provide marine and construction services to various industries on the Pacific Northcoast.
The Opportunity
As part of our LNCG tanker line handling team, the marine mechanic will perform routine and preventative maintenance on our Kitimat vessel fleet. You will be responsible for inspecting and servicing diesel and gas engine equipment, troubleshooting, and making repairs while working within the guidelines, policies, and procedures of the Company.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on Bridgemans vessels and marine infrastructure.
- Testing the performance of marine engines and electrical systems.
- Carrying out services and minor repairs on outboard, inboard engines.
- Conducting plumbing and intake repairs.
- Troubleshooting engine and electrical problems.
- Replacing broken or worn-out engine parts.
- Repairing faulty hydraulic and steering systems.
- Conducting electrical AC system maintenance.
- Completing service records and repair documents.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of proven work experience as a marine mechanic.
- Knowledge of marine engine and electrical auxiliary systems.
- Welding skills and experience is an asset
- Knowledge of marine hydraulic systems and related parts.
- Proficient in both onshore and offshore work, possess a thorough understanding of vessel engines, and be able to identify electrical system issues.
- Diagnose and fix problems with marine electrical and mechanical systems of any size.
- Knowledge of boat steering systems.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work flexible hours and rotation schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operations may operate on a 24/7 schedule
- Complete drug and alcohol testing if required
