Job Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000
Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for supervising the preparation of financial statements, reviewing tax returns, and overseeing the organization and prioritization of work within the accounting team. This role requires comprehensive experience in compilation and review preparations, in-depth knowledge of relevant accounting frameworks, and a strong focus on client service orientation.

Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for supervising the preparation of financial statements, reviewing tax returns, and overseeing the organization and prioritization of work within the accounting team. This role requires comprehensive experience in compilation and review preparations, in-depth knowledge of relevant accounting frameworks, and a strong focus on client service orientation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the preparation of financial statements, review the work of Staff Accountants, and complete complex portions of the file
- Maintain quality control by overseeing and reviewing Compilation and Review Engagements
- Review Corporate, Personal, and Trust income tax returns, and other tax forms
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports
- Perform technical research, develop and document tax planning recommendations
- Assist with the execution of corporate reorganizations
- Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring their needs are met and that relationships and accounts grow
- Mentor and support the professional development needs of Staff Accountants
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
- CA or CPA designation, with a minimum of 5 years public practice experience dealing with the accounting and taxation needs of private companies
- Comprehensive experience in compilation and review preparation
- Experience leading and supervising staff
Skills & Competencies:
- Extensive knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
- Proficiency in Caseware and Profile
- Strong business acumen and computer skills (MS Office)
- Excellent communication and client service orientation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound judgment calls
