Custodian – Relief Position

We strive everyday to provide a clean, sanitized, and healthy environment for our Guests, Staff and Volunteers. The Custodial position plays a key role by adhering to a specified cleaning plan.
Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures, with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrate familiarity with common institutional cleaners and disinfecting agents and safe handling of same
- Ability to perform physical requirements, including ability to lift 50lbs.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize space in accordance with a documented cleaning plan that will include at a minimum, a cleaning schedule with some form of documentation, noting when the cleaning/disinfecting was completed for all items/areas on the cleaning plan.
- Care for equipment, supplies and work areas through the following:
- Maintain cleanliness and safe storage of equipment.
- Report defective and damaged equipment and furnishings.
- Keep work area in an orderly, safe and clean condition.
- Keep inventory in order on individual carts.
- Replenish supplies throughout the building.
- Understand the use and application of cleaning chemicals.
- Fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position with a pleasant demeanour maintaining clear and consistent boundaries with Guests.
- General cleaning duties as defined by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Flexibility in working hours – MUST be able to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and holiday coverage when required.
- Any other duties as specified by the Maintenance Supervisor or Director.
- Responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of services to TGP Guests. Applications of organizational policies and processes pertaining to Guest and workplace safety is expected.
Qualifications and Skills:
- WHIMIS Training would be an asset.
- Display knowledge related to the use of hazardous products, infection control, cleaning practices, housekeeping operations and equipment usage.
- Ability to conduct tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Trustworthy, dependable, with strong organizational skills and a proven ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Flexibility to work with team members or individually.
- All applicants MUST be able to provide a current Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check.
