General Purpose of This Position:
Reporting to the Performance Manager, the Continuous Improvement Specialist will analyze the company's processes and make continuous improvement recommendations, as well as support and implement continuous improvement strategies related to safety, performance, quality and client satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Health and Safety
- Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety Department.
- Ensure the measures and procedures prescribed by the applicable Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations are carried out in the workplace.
- Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation.
Be a champion for safety, advocating safe behaviour while incorporating safety into continuous improvement deliverables.
General Duties and Responsibilities:

- Collaborate and support projects to implement continuous improvement and short-term interval control processes and projects to optimize productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Identify and assess opportunities for process enhancements and increased efficiency, always maintaining a firm focus on safety and risk management.
- Conduct regular performance analyses (daily, weekly, and monthly reports) using key KPI's that facilitate identification of improvement areas and drives the success of a project.
- Facilitate workshops, training, and coach teams on continuous improvement methodologies.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and promote idea generation among site personnel.
- Stay updated of industry innovations, processes, and technological advancements to uphold a competitive edge.
- Support the implementation of innovations and new technologies throughout the company.
- Implement and support the deployment of data gathering platforms/technologies at sites, ensuring effective utilization of tools for data collection, analysis, and interpretation to drive informed decision-making and Short-Term Interval Control.
- Regular reviews or health checks to refine improvement processes to ensure ongoing effectiveness and sustainability.
- Facilitate and document standards, best practices and lessons learned from improvement initiatives to share across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with industry and local codes, regulations, and client mandates while contributing to the development and refinement of departmental standards.
- Support other business functions:
- Business development and tendering activities, aiding the contracting group with estimations.
- Contribute to the company's marketing efforts.
- Provide technical assistance during mining operations and construction phases, collaborating with procurement and ensuring client needs are met.
- Align decisions with the company's vision and mission, prioritizing our "best for project" philosophy.
- Address customer needs, solving problems and building client relationships.
- Support on-time, on-budget project delivery prioritizing safety.
- Support the execution of project contracts by maintaining an ethically centric approach in all you do for the benefit of all stakeholders.
- Monitor and Coach site personnel.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Travel Requirements:
- This position has the requirement for frequent travel to our project sites and offices.
- Travel period may range from one day to several weeks.
- Travel may include international assignments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None immediately, but potential future opportunities.
Education and Experience:
- Engineering Degree or Technician with, or eligible and working towards, a Professional designation.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) designation, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant Mining industry experience.
- Must be in possession of a valid driver's license.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Having a good foundation of mining knowledge is desirable, but having a strong drive to learn as much as possible is equally desirable.
- Self-starter who is accountable for their work and able to work efficiently and collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
- Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
- Able to build and maintain relationships with other departments, site teams, key business partners, and other stakeholders.
- Effective leadership and influencing ability with operational, technical, and corporate staff.
- Balanced approach to innovation, disruption, and practicality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills.
- Conducts self in a professional manner and is adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the role.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office, Intermediate Mine Planning (Deswik or similar) and Project Management (Primivera or similar) would be an asset.

Cementation Americas has successfully implemented a hybrid work schedule in all our Corporate Offices. All office staff have the option of remote work MON & FRI, while working the balance of the week (TUEs/WED/THURs) in the office.
